Welcome to FurrTruth. FurrTruth is a Chrome extension created purely for fun with no commercial goals. This Privacy Policy explains our approach to your privacy when you use the FurrTruth Chrome extension.

How the Extension Works

The FurrTruth extension operates by:

Identifying specified words or names on webpages you visit
Replacing those words/names with alternatives you've chosen
Replacing images or links containing those words with random cat images

All these operations happen entirely within your browser, on your local machine. No data is sent to our servers or any third-party servers except when the extension fetches cat images from the external cat image APIs.

When the extension replaces an image with a cat image, your browser will make a request to one of these services. This is the same as if you visited their websites directly in your browser. We have no affiliation with these services and don't receive any data from them about your usage.

We have no affiliation with the cat image sites used by the extension.
Our informational website is hosted on Cloudflare.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Permissions Used

The FurrTruth extension requires the following permissions:

storage: Needed to store your word replacement preferences locally in your browser.
activeTab: Needed to access and modify the content of the tab you're currently viewing, allowing the extension to replace words and images.
host permissions: We also use broad host rights so that the extension can actually run on any tab if needed. This is necessary; otherwise, you as a user would need to click a button each time. But you can deactivate the plugin, and then nothing happens unless you reactivate it.

These permissions are used solely for the extension's core functionality and never for collecting or transmitting your data. No WiFi snooping, no Bluetooth earplugs to hear what your thoughts are.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since we don't collect any data, there is nothing for us to delete or retain. Your preferences are stored only in your browser's local storage and can be cleared at any time by:

Cannot and will not steal your data and send it overseas

Does NOT know your social security number (and doesn't want to)
